Scottish Government Ferry Services Review

The Scottish Government is undertaking a review of ferry services in Scotland:
Monday 9th March 12noon - 3.15 & 5pm - 7.30pm

  • Develop a shared vision and outcomes for lifeline ferry services in Scotland.
  • Analyse the current lifeline ferry services and network and how it links to other modal networks.
  • Inform The Scottish Government’s long term strategy for lifeline ferry services in Scotland.
  • Identify policies to deliver the long term strategy, including the planned investment framework.

The review will seek to reduce the disparity between the regions of Scotland, providing choices,
opportunities and prosperity within our island and remote communities.
The review will include: Funding, costs and affordability; Procurement of lifeline ferry services;
Services and routes, are the current services and routes the best fit for the requirements of the
users? Competition; Fares; Vessels; Ports and Harbours; Accessibility;
Environmental Issues; Integration; Lifeline air routes; and Freight
The main meeting will start at 12noon with a number of speakers followed by a Q&A session and workshop sessions and will finish at 3.15. Soup and Sandwiches will be provided at this session.

There will be a consultation event in the Castlebay Hall, Barra on Monday 9 March 2009.
 

 

This will be followed by a public drop-in session between 5 and 7:30.
