Hebridean Doormouse
Handmade on the Isle of Barra
We sailed the world, both far and wide
And came ashore on Barra’s tide
We live in burrows underground
And sleep all day – don’t make a sound
When night time comes we can be found
Causing mischief all around
We pry in houses, boats and sheds
And peek in rooms and under beds
We must stay quiet and out of sight
Make sure we’re home while it’s still night
For if we’re seen by human eye
No longer can we peek and pry
Forever more we’re turned to stone
To be a doorstop in your home
