Na h-Eileanan an Iar Parliamentary Constituency
Elections for the UK Parliament take place every five years. There are 646 parliamentary constituencies in the UK, 59 of which are in Scotland and Na h-Eileanan an Iar constituency has the smallest electorate in the UK and will elect one MP (Member of Parliament) to sit in the House of Commons.
Make Sure You’re Registered to Vote! The UK Parliamentary Election will be held on Thursday 6 May 2010. To be able to vote your name must be on the Register of Electors and you must be 18 or over on the day of the election. To be entered onto the register you must be a British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen who is resident in the UK. If you are not on the register of electors then you will not be able to vote.
The deadline to register to vote or to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2010. The deadline for proxy votes is 5.00pm on 27 April 2010.

Returning Officer for the Na h-Eileanan an Iar Parliamentary Constituency, Malcolm Burr, said: “I would urge all Western Isles residents who wish to cast their vote in this election to make sure that they are registered.
