It is with regret and sadness that this week, we, as a community, heard of the death of Ian Roderick Macneil of Barra, chief of the Clan MacNeil but also a well liked, respected and good friend to the people of Barra and Vatersay. He will be returning to his home in Barra on Sunday evening’s ferry, will be taken to Our lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay on Monday evening at 6pm and the funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday morning, afterwards to the graveyard at Cuithir. A bus will be laid on from Castlebay to and from the graveyard. Bus Bharraidh will also be available for any of our service users who wish to attend the funeral. After the funeral, the family extend an invitation to everyone to go to Castlebay Hall, where refreshments will be available. A Book of Remembrance will also be in the Hall for signing.
